Rope Access Technician, Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada

Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada
Focus: Rope Access work within the petrochemical industry
Pay Range: Depending on credentials and experience 

 

Overview
Mistras Group, Inc. is looking for motivated and qualified rope access technicians to help support our growing rope access business at Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. Ideal candidates will possess a current rope access certification and are responsible for safety management, work site organization, and, where applicable, supervisory roles and responsibilities and providing leadership to work crews on various projects.

 

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for overseeing work projects

• Be conversant with relevant work techniques and legislation
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of advanced rescue techniques
• Demonstrate all the skills and knowledge required of level II technician
• Prepare and submit reports on a timely basis
• Ensure all equipment is operated safely
• Liaise with Operations Managers on project work
• Liaise with clients and site operations crew to ensure scope of job is understood and well executed
• Assist other technicians as required

 

Minimum Qualifications
• IRATA Level I or II Certification required including proficiency in theoretical knowledge, equipment and rigging, maneuvers, climbing and rescue/hauling
• Previous supervisory experience preferred
• Valid driver's’ license
• Required certification levels for specific projects
• Willingness to learn and improve
• Team orientated
• Ability to work productively in adverse conditions
• Eligible for hire (or retention) based on all Company policies related to employment.


Physical Requirements

• Must be able to routinely lift up to 30 lbs.
• Must be able to tolerate working in extreme climates (sub zero temperatures) for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to tolerate numerous hours spent stooping, crawling, kneeling, standing and walking.
• Must be comfortable working in cramped or confined spaces.
• Must be able to wear required protective and safety equipment (cold weather gear, safety glasses, hard hats, etc.)
