Traveling Rope Access Technician

Overview
The Mistras Ropeworks Team is looking for a motivated and qualified Level I or II SPRAT/IRATA Technician to carry out a wide variety of inspection, maintenance, and repair services in settings ranging from infrastructure, petrochem, to wind energy.

Successful candidates will work under the supervision of a Rope Access III Team Leader, and within the scope of a written Safe Work Plan. The Technician uses ropes and related equipment to access and complete work tasks at considerable height. The Technician may also participate in rescue operations, administrative tasks, and customer support. Work hours, locations, shift times, and nature of work assignments are not guaranteed and can vary greatly. Travel is extensive, and time away from home can span several weeks at a time. The person holding this position is also expected to maintain primary residence in the United States.

Safety, integrity, technical capabilities, customer service, and an ability to function effectively in a team environment are essential. As expected of all personnel, the Technician is to operate in a direct, patient, and respectful manner at all times.

 

Minimum Qualifications

1. Maintains certification as a Level I or II Rope Access Technician (SPRAT or IRATA).
2. Meets the Company’s first-aid, CPR, and AED certification requirements at time of hire or within 60 days thereafter.
3. Valid driver’s license within the state of primary residence, without restrictions, and possession of a valid Passport or the ability to obtain one within 90 days.
4. Eligible for hire (or retention) based on the company’s background check process including but not limited to a review of criminal records, driving records, employment history, and reference checks.
5. Medically cleared by a Company-approved clinician based on the job demands. Applicants may be required to undergo one or more post-offer, pre-placement fitness for duty evaluations.
6. Able to successfully meet the Company’s substance abuse testing requirements including but not limited to testing at time of hire, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-incident.
7. Capable of carrying out strenuous, repetitive, or tedious work often in adverse conditions (heat, cold, wind, extreme height, darkness, etc.) and often for extended periods of time.
8. Able to travel by any means (air, rail, ship, ground, etc.), without geographical limitations (county or state boundaries, international travel, etc.) or any other restrictions that might interfere with logistics.
9. High school graduate or GED. Relevant bachelors and advanced degrees are an asset.
10. Must be at least 21 years old at time of hire.

3. Works effectively within a team structure to complete operational and administrative assignments on time, with good quality.
4. In accordance with Ropeworks safety procedures, reflects an intense focus on safety, health, and risk management concerns and takes pride in safeguarding self and others during each job assignment.
5. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned on an individual basis and as outlined in company policies, procedures and directed work practices.
